How A Facial Can Rejuvenate Your Skin

When we are young we often don't see the importance of taking care of our skin. And as we get older, with busy lives, we allocate that time to something else.

However, concern can quickly turn to panic when we first notice fine lines and wrinkles. And the speed which we want things done is not fast enough. Remember for some of us it took nearly 30 to 40 years to show signs of wear and tear. But luckily it won't take nearly as long to repair and prevent further damage.

Here are 4 reasons why you need to get regular spa facials.

DEEP CLEANSING
Daily cleansing is important for healthy skin, but deep cleansing on a regular basis is essential as well. A spa facial can give your face the deep cleansing it needs for removal of excess dirt and grime in the pores, opening them up and removing the blockages that can lead to acne pimples.

MINIMIZES FACIAL PORES
Regular facials can easily reduce the visibility of your pores. Most facials use a combination of steps to draw out impurities and remove blockages from your pores. One such way is to exfoliate the skin, removing the dead skin cells that lifts trapped grime and unclogs pores, leading to brighter and fresher skin.

BRIGHTER SKIN
A professional facial is designed to brighten your face and revitalize your skin. In fact, all of the steps of a facial nourish, repair and fight premature aging in some way. Additionally, facials help neutralize specific skin problems because your esthetician targets these concerns when using the different products at her disposal.

REJUVENATION
An often forgotten beauty secret is that a little relaxation can help a person look and feel a lot better. If your skin has lost its glow, a body and mind health booster can be to relax. Facials provide physical rejuvenation and mental time-outs. Your time out can range from 30 minutes to an hour, doing wonders for your skin and demeanor.

Most people don't know or haven't considered that a professional facial is a way of keeping your skin healthy looking and as result make you feel great.

Super Food Everyday

First thing in the morning is a great time to consume a green powdered super food supplement.

I like to drink a green drink in the morning. By mixing a super food powder loaded with greens like Chlorella, Spirulina, Wheat Grass, Barley Grass and sprouted grains you boost your nutrition intake for the day by 100%.

This is an easy addition to your diet without turning to synthetic supplements that contain fillers that cause digestive disturbances.

The green super foods will stimulate digestion, satisfy nutritional needs, curb appetite as well as boost energy levels. Super foods help to keep the skin looking great as well.

People often ask what my secret to beautiful skin is. I am telling you good nutrition is a must and it is easy to get good nutrition by having a green smoothie or shake in the morning. Along with good skin care, what you put into your body matters.

My personal favorite is Greens Plus in Berry flavor.  Here is a link to the website

5 Tips For Healthy Skin

1. Protect yourself from the sun

One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.

For the most complete sun protection:
  • Use sunscreen. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. When you're outdoors, reapply sunscreen every two hours — or more often if you're swimming or perspiring.
  • Seek shade. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are strongest.
  • Wear protective clothing. Cover your skin with tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-brimmed hats. Also consider laundry additives, which give clothing an additional layer of ultraviolet protection for a certain number of washings, or special sun-protective clothing — which is specifically designed to block ultraviolet rays.

2. Don't smoke

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow. This depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health. Smoking also damages collagen and elastin — the fibers that give your skin its strength and elasticity. In addition, the repetitive facial expressions you make when smoking — such as pursing your lips when inhaling and squinting your eyes to keep out smoke — can contribute to wrinkles. If you smoke, the best way to protect your skin is to quit.

3. Treat your skin gently

Daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin. To keep it gentle:
  • Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm — rather than hot — water.
  • Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers.
  • Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it.
  • Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin.
  • Moisturize dry skin. If your skin is dry, use a moisturizer that fits your skin type.

4. Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn't clear — but some research suggests that a diet rich in vitamin C and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin.

5. Manage stress

Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. To encourage healthy skin — and a healthy state of mind — take steps to manage your stress. Set reasonable limits, scale back your to-do list and make time to do the things you enjoy. The results might be more dramatic than you expect.

Kiss These Skin Sins Goodbye!!!!

Bad skin care habits can increase your risk of acne, premature aging, wrinkles, and more. Some are habits you’re totally aware of and others are seemingly innocent things you do every day that can impact the health and beauty of your skin. Here are a few skin sins to shed, starting today:

Sun sins - Indoors or out, tanning is considered the number one skin sin no-no. Always, always use sunblock when you go outdoors and if you simply must have a little color, consider alternatives like sunless tanners and bronzers.

Lifestyle issues come to the surface - Too much alcohol and caffeine can dehydrate your skin and give it a dull appearance. Smoking has been reported to contribute to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. If you sleep less than 8 hours a night, you’re shortchanging your skin, which could mean dark circles under your eyes.

Don’t be picky - Resist the urge to pick that blemish. This quick fix can be nothing but trouble for your skin. It may look like you’re getting rid of the problem, but you’re actually pushing the bacteria deeper into your skin, which could lead to the formation of even more acne spots. Long-term picking can also create the possibility of scars—so stop picking, pronto. If you have acne-prone skin, make sure to be vigilant about skin care with monthly facials and good home care products. (A Licensed Esthetician can help you with this)

Put this bad habit to bed - Going to bed with your makeup on is a skin sin that can leave the entire day’s accumulation of dirt, grime, and oil on your skin to seep into pores, clogging them and putting you at risk for acne. Make a clean break with this habit by creating a healthy evening routine where you cleanse, tone, and moisturize.

Some like it too hot - You may enjoy a long hot shower, but your skin can’t take the heat without being stripped of its natural oils. This can result in dry, flaky, itchy skin. Eliminate this skin sin by turning down the heat and lingering less in the shower.

Let’s talk about your phone - Holding your phone against your cheek creates a warm and moist environment where bacteria can thrive, which can lead to skin irritations. Make sure to lightly wipe your phone off daily and alternate which side of your face you hold your phone against to minimize the risk of developing skin problems.

The 8 Reasons Why Your Skin Is Aging

Is your skin aging faster than you are? Its probably safe to say that your skin's greatest foe is NOT time but environmental and lifestyle factors.

Your facial skin is specially vulnerable to these factors as it is constantly exposed and bombarded by them.

Watching out for these factors can improve the performance of your skin care routine and dramatically improve your skin's texture, tone and clarity.

If the answer is no, you can still do something about it now, and if you answered yes, keep it young and glowing by knowing what ages your skin. And by taking the proper precautions and timely care for it, you can slow down the natural aging process of your skin.

Here are 8 environmental and lifestyle factors that can speed aging skin:

1) Sun Exposure (this includes tanning beds)

2) Cigarette Smoke (inhaled or second-hand)

3) Pollution or Environmental Toxins (car exhaust or household cleaning products)

4) A Poor Diet (fast foods or processed foods) and Not Enough Fruits and Vegetables

5) Excess Alcohol Consumption

6) Stress

7) Harsh Skin Care Products, Soaps or Detergents

8) Sleep Deprivation

Additionally, the idea behind the list is not to frighten you or never to have you use cleaning supplies or to become a recluse and never leave your house. The idea is to find ways to manage them and still live a full life.

Aging

Aging. Of course it’s something that happens to all of us, every day, and it can’t be stopped. The good news is, we have a bit more control over it than we may think! I’m not talking Botox injections or invasive plastic surgeries, but rather lifestyle habits that you can practice every day to keep you young, fit, and healthy. Try these lifestyle changes out, and see for yourself how much healthier you’ll start to feel and look!

Diet
Diet plays an important role in how a person ages. Fried and fatty foods, sugar (Advanced Glycation End-products, or AGEs), and fast foods speed up the aging process. Eat a balanced diet that is packed with antioxidants and minerals including raw fruits; vegetables; whole grains; seeds; nuts; fish – especially purple; red berries (flavonoids); red, yellow and orange veggies, (carotenoids, lycopene); iron and mineral rich green, leafy veggies and cancer fighting broccoli. Protein from fish and soy is preferable. Processed, artificial or toxic foods accelerate aging due to the harmful chemicals that need to be disposed of. It is also important to get adequate intake of pure, clean water. The average person should drink 6 to 8 glasses per day.

Exercise
One of the most important lifestyle habits to fight aging is regular exercise. Regular exercise promotes healthy oxygen levels in the body. Brisk walking is very beneficial for the brain and cardiovascular system. Other types of exercise are also beneficial, especially strength training, yoga and cycling.

Sleep
The body uses sleep time to do its internal housekeeping – process nutrients, detoxify, renew and recharge in general. If your body is chronically starved for sleep, the effects will eventually become both visibly and physically noticeable. Most people do best with about 7 hours sleep.

Skin
Protect your skin all the time from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, not just while you’re in the sun. Don’t think of it as sunscreen, think of it as daylight defense! Protection from UV rays and the use of age-fighting ingredients is the secret to wrinkle free, younger-looking, healthy skin.

Avoid tanning and DO NOT Burn!
One blistering sunburn doubles your risk of melanoma. It is best to stay out of the midday sun (from mid-morning to late afternoon) whenever you can. Tanning beds are just as dangerous as the sun, if not worse! They produce 2-3 times the amount of UVA rays than the sun.
